There are a lot of women gamers who would be offended by games designer specifically for women, but on the other hand, there are women who have been enticed by Wii Fit and Nintendo Brain Training games. I recently completed Portal, the Source engine mod, and the character you play through in that is a woman (she even has weird high heel things on) and I noticed no discernible difference in my enjoyment - both games are brilliant, original and highly addictive.
